Best 5 Snow Destinations in Australia

Not everyone appreciates the intense heat and humidity of Australia, especially during the summer months. The good news is you don’t have to go that far in Land Down Under to escape from the harsh weather condition. You can check out these fabulous snow destinations in the country:

 

Perisher Valley

One of the most popular places to be in during the summer is Perisher Valley. It has several activities prepared not only for thrill-seekers but also for families. Parents and kids should try out Club Penguin Tube Town located in Mount Piper. Snow tubing is one of the best and cost-effective means to experience sliding down the slopes of the valley. It is so safe it doesn’t require any special skill. When you can’t get enough you can always go back up.

 

The valley also has its own hotel, aptly called Perisher Valley Hotel, as well as a shopping arcade found in Perisher Centre, where you can buy all your ski gear. Nevertheless, you can always have them for hire. For those who cannot say no to nightlife can head to the nearby bars and clubs, one of which is the Curve.

 

Thredbo

Thredbo is one of the places in the Snowy Mountains that have very few people—no more than a thousand. However, the number of visitors can go up to as much as a million especially during the winter when the entire mountain is completely covered with snow. This is because Thredbo has the longest ski runs in the country. Nevertheless, Thredbo is just as a perfect destination during summer as it is during winter. Favorite summertime activities include horseback riding, swimming, rock climbing, and canoeing. Catch the blues music festivals or go up to Mount Kosciuszko, the highest mountain peak, to catch the glorious sunset.

 

Falls Creek

 

Tucked in the Australian mountain Alps of Victoria is the majestic Falls Creek. It’s such a popular snow destination accommodation options are very abundant. Some of the properties are private homes that can be rented when the owner is not around.

 

There are so many amazing activities you can do in Falls Creek. These include skiing at night in Wombat’s Ramble. Hotham is famous for its many terrain parks as well as a good venue for cross-country skiing, along with Dinner Plain. It is also home to biathlon range and defense force competitions and events. If the weather permits it you can take your motorcycle on the Great Alpine Road with the beautiful mountains serving as your backdrop.

 

Mount Buller

 

Mount Buller can refer to the ski resort itself as well as the village found at the foot of the mountain. Regardless you have one huge snow mountain. North American trips were the best but riding in Europe took on a whole new dimension of what I called freedom. The Alps and Dolomites gave me a new appreciation of what I searched for but with that came an appreciation of what I call normal in my life. My driving force has aways been curiosity and after various aspects of my travel I am now able to reconnect. Woman of all ages and occupations were my traveling companions and I am priveleged to call them friends.The book consists of memories, photographs and anecdotes telling a tale of person evolution, adventure while overcoming adversity and fear. The stories all played out while on various bikes rented in Europe and Gold Wings in America. I belong to the oldest ladies motorcycle club in North America, the Motor Maids Inc and belonged to the International Motorcycle Touring Club based in England for many years.
